The Truelight Community Fellowship Scholarship Fund will be awarding one (1) award from each of the below categories.
Founder’s Award - $1,500.00
In honor of the founding Pastor and First Lady of GTLBC. Pastor Henry W. & Sister Leontine Lee. This award will be awarded specifically to applicants pursuing a degree or certificate in Ministry, Biblical Studies, Mortuary Science, Fashion Design, Cosmetology, or Engineering (Applicants can be either a graduating senior or an adult returning to school)
Legacy Award- $1,000.00
In honor of all the occupations held by the founding members of GTLBC. This will be awarded specifically to applicants pursuing a degree or certificate in Organizational Management, Public Safety, Finance, Agricultural studies and or anything within the medical field (Applicants can be either a graduating senior or an adult returning to school)
Be The Light Award (BOL) - $500.00
Awarded to an applicant who goes above the call of duty as related to Christian service within both the community and church. Applicants can be either a graduating senior or an adult returning to school)
** Recipients are eligible to receive awards once every 4 years. All completed applications will be reviewed however, not all applicants will be awarded a scholarship. Scholarships will be paid directly to the educational institution of behalf of the applicant**
Eligibility

Be a high school senior or an adult returning to school.

Be an active member of a church ministry

Pursue education at an accredited four-year college, two year college, or trade school, if in high school you must present an official transcript with a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on most recent grade transcript.

Applicants must present an acceptance letter to higher education institution.

Complete the required essay.

Be a resident in the state of California.

Complete the in person interview (Via Zoom)

Submit a completed application along with your essay by March 30, 2024
Requirements

All Applicants must complete and submit an application and attach all of the supporting documents referenced below.

The completed, signed original application and all supporting documents must be mailed or emailed to the Truelight Community Scholarship Fund Committee postmarked by March 30, 2024,. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applications must be signed by the applicant and the applicant’s parent or legal guardian (if applicant is under age 18) certifying that all information provided is true and correct.

Applicants must be a resident of the state of California

Scholarship recipients will be notified both by mail and email. All awards will be presented with a scholarship certificate on the fifth Saturday in June, 2024 during the Ministries Annual Graduation Service.
Supporting Documents

(For high school applicants) An official high school transcript must be submitted and attached to the application. The transcript must verify the minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicant must be eligible for graduation in spring of 2024.

High school applicants must submit a one page letter of recommendation from one of the applicant’s current teachers or a school official. The letter should at minimum detail the applicant’s background, academic and extracurricular achievements and contributions.

All applicants must submit a one page letter of recommendation from a church member serving in a leadership capacity of the applicant’s church of membership. The letter should detail applicant’s membership status and length of membership, participation in church activities, leadership abilities, community service, and any contributions the applicant has made to the church community, including unpaid volunteer work.

Applicant must submit a one page character reference letter from a school, church, or community organization, which describes the applicant’s character. The character reference letter cannot be from a family member or from the same person providing the church and school recommendation letters
